Weight management is about more than access to medication. As interest in GLP-1 therapies continues to grow, employers are also looking for ways to help members build healthy habits, stay engaged and get the support they need over time — all while managing rising pharmacy costs.

CarelonRx is enhancing its Weight Management Program to bring those pieces together in a more robust, connected experience. The program combines lifestyle and medication support through a behavior-based approach, with ongoing engagement designed around members and their whole-person health.

A weight management program built around whole-person health

The CarelonRx Weight Management Program takes a behavior-first approach to weight management, with digital lifestyle support that helps members build healthy habits and offers GLP-1 support when appropriate. Medication management and ongoing engagement are integrated into the experience based on member needs.

The program continues to build on that foundation with an enriched digital experience for members and additional ways to help them stay connected throughout their weight management journey.

Making weight management support easier to start and stay with

A program can only make a difference when members can easily use it. That’s why CarelonRx is focused on helping your members understand available support, take the next step, and stay engaged over time.

The member experience is designed to include:

  • Easier enrollment and navigation through a more intuitive digital experience.
  • More ways to stay connected with coaches and communities through the app, and easy access to customer service via email and phone.
  • Ongoing support and reminders through text and push notifications to help members build healthy habits and stay engaged beyond enrollment.

Together, these features can reduce potential friction at the start while providing consistent support that encourages sustained participation and progress toward weight management goals.

Connecting GLP-1 medication management with lifestyle support

For some members, GLP-1 medications may be one part of a broader weight management strategy. Where applicable, the Weight Management Program brings medication management together with digital tools and healthy-habit resources rather than treating GLP-1 therapy as a stand-alone solution.*

Program options can combine GLP-1 integration with lifestyle support, cost-sharing controls, and clinical guidance. This more connected approach can help members manage their medications while making lifestyle changes that align with their broader health goals.

Helping manage costs while supporting members

Employers are balancing growing interest in weight management and GLP-1 therapies with the need to manage pharmacy costs. A connected program brings lifestyle support, medication management and ongoing engagement together in a more efficient and coordinated way.

When GLP-1 medications are included, cost-sharing controls can also be part of the program design.

Bringing these elements together can help plan sponsors make thoughtful use of benefit resources while connecting members with support that may be appropriate for their needs.

Next phase of the Weight Management Program

The enhancements to the Weight Management Program launch to all current and new members on October 1, 2026. Members will continue receiving support through the transition and will receive further information on program changes and next steps prior to the October 1 launch.

The updated experience will include Noom-supported digital weight management and engagement capabilities designed to support members throughout their journey.

To learn more, current clients can connect with their CarelonRx representative or contact CarelonRx.

*While in-app support includes coaching, meal modifications, and exercise tips that support GLP-1 user needs, the digital experience does not promote, prescribe, or dispense medication.
